Serving with the Air Force Thunderbirds changed my life.

I learned so much about myself; about leadership, about teamwork and about the power of trust.

My son and me sharing some time talking about the USAF Thunderbirds with kids at the Las Vegas Boys & Girls Club years ago.

These are lessons everyone learns when serving in the United States Air Force, but the Thunderbirds push the concepts and force members to demonstrate it in front of thousands of people every week -- while mitigating risks of danger, sacrificing time with their families and inspiring others to strive for greatness.

Today Netflix and Blue Ox Films released a documentary (executive produced by Barack Obama and Michelle Obama's Higher Ground Productions) that showcases this feeling.

Lots of people worked hard to make this happen, including Kaitlin Gwynn Butler, Krystal Jimenez, and the Thunderbirds Public Affairs teams. As the Director of the USAF/USSF Entertainment Liaison Office, my role was more strategic than tactical when this project began. But I'm thankful to Gina Vaccaro McKeen (who now leads the office) and Jasmine Manning for collaborating with the Thunderbirds and production to bring this across the finish line.
